FAQ

Questions, answered plainly.

The short answers about what Agent Ethan does, where it stops, and what happens to your data.

The basics

What is Agent Ethan?

Agent Ethan is accessibility voice control for Android. You say a task, such as "Send Mom a WhatsApp, I reached home", and Ethan opens the right app, reads the screen through Android's Accessibility Service, and does the taps, typing and scrolling for you. You watch it happen on your own screen and can pause or stop it at any moment.

Who is Agent Ethan for?

It is made for people who find a touchscreen hard to use: hands that shake or mis-tap (tremor, arthritis, Parkinson's, RSI, one-handed use), low vision, older adults who are not comfortable with menus and small buttons, people who do not read the language an app is in, and people who find multi-screen tasks hard to hold in memory.

Is Agent Ethan free?

Agent Ethan is free to start, with a daily allowance of assisted tasks. The terms say the allowance may change or paid options may be introduced in future, with notice in the app or on this site.

Which phones does it work on?

Android 11 or newer. Agent Ethan is an Android app and there is no iPhone version.

Do I have to sign in?

Yes. You sign in with Google or with an email address. The privacy policy explains what is kept.

Can it make mistakes?

Yes. Ethan uses AI to understand your request and the screen, so it can misunderstand or tap the wrong thing. That is why it shows a plan first, shows what it is about to press, stays visible while it works, and, by default, asks before it sends and stops before payments, bookings and permanent deletions. Check important actions before you confirm them.

Using Ethan

How do I give Ethan a task?

Tap or hold the big microphone and say it, or type it if you prefer. You can also long-press the app icon to start listening straight away. Ethan shows "On it" with a short plan, then steps aside while a small pill stays on top of your screen. For a task like "Book me a cab to the airport, the cheapest one", Ethan does the steps and, by default, asks before the final one.

Which languages can I speak?

Ethan understands many spoken languages. You can speak English, Spanish and many other languages, whatever you speak at home, and Ethan handles the English screens when the app you are using is in English.

Does Ethan talk back?

Ethan can speak when it starts, when it needs you, and when the task is done, and you can answer its questions by voice. You can also keep everything on screen only.

What happens when Ethan is not sure?

It asks. Numbered choices appear on your screen over the things to pick from, and you answer by voice, by saying the number or the name, or by tapping.

Does it work with TalkBack?

Ethan is designed to work alongside TalkBack and your other accessibility settings rather than replacing them, and its own controls are labelled for TalkBack.

Can I set it up for my parent?

Yes. A family member can install Ethan, sign in, and switch on the Accessibility service once, so the parent can simply speak. Read the step-by-step guide on the blog for what to say and what to check.

Safety and control

Will Ethan spend money or delete things?

By default, not on its own. Ethan is designed to stop before paying, booking and permanently deleting, and hands the phone back to you, and it only goes ahead after you clearly say go ahead. It is designed to ask before paying at every level. Factory reset, deleting an account, signing out and a permanent delete always ask you to confirm. Moving an item to a bin you can restore it from may go ahead, because that can be undone. Ethan does not change critical settings such as a factory reset or removing an account.

Does Ethan see my passwords or one-time codes?

Ethan skips password boxes and one-time codes, and it does not photograph a screen that has a password field on it. Those stay between you and your phone.

Will Ethan send messages without asking?

By default, no. Ethan asks before it sends a message or makes a call, and you say go ahead. In Settings, under Agent, then Autonomy, you can let it press Send or Call itself when it is sure of the contact. It is designed to ask when it is unsure.

How do I stop Ethan during a task?

Tap Pause or Stop on the small pill that stays on top of your screen. Ethan never starts anything on its own and does nothing when you are not using it.

How do I turn Ethan off completely?

Open Android Settings, then Accessibility, select Agent Ethan and switch it off. You can also sign out in the app. When the permission is off, Ethan cannot operate other apps.

Privacy and data

What does Ethan send to the cloud?

While a task you started is running, the text and layout of the screen, and a screenshot when the text is not enough, are sent over an encrypted connection to Google Gemini through Neural Forge's server in India (Google Cloud, asia-south1) so Ethan can work out the next step. There are no ads. The privacy policy explains what is kept and for how long.

What happens to my voice?

When you speak a task, the recording is processed to turn it into text. The privacy policy explains where this happens and what is kept.

What does Neural Forge keep about me?

Your account uses your email address and a daily usage count, so you can sign in and the daily allowance can be applied. The app also has diagnostics and a "Help improve Agent Ethan" setting, found in Settings under Privacy. Read the privacy policy for what is kept and for how long.

How is my data used?

Screen text and screenshots are sent to an AI service only while a task you started is running. The app has a "Help improve Agent Ethan" setting under Settings, then Privacy. Read the privacy policy for how data is used.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, open Settings, then About, then Delete account & data, or email [email protected] from your registered address with the subject "Delete my Agent Ethan account". The delete account page explains the process.
